The Hobblebush Granite State Short Story Series
Books by New Hampshire authors for any state you're in
Editors: Sidney Hall Jr. and Kirsty Walker
The Hobblebush Granite State Short Story Series publishes one or two volumes a year of New Hampshire short story writers who deserve a wider audience.
Like the Hobblebush Granite State Poetry Series, the Short Story Series presents work that is new and exciting, literary, transformative and important. Series editors Sid Hall and Kirsty Walker believe that a 'good story' is more important than pyrotechnics.
Volume I, published in March of 2015, is Sing by Dan Szczesny, author of The Adventures of Buffalo and Tough Cookie (Bondcliff Books, 2013) and The Nepal Chronicles (Hobblebush Books, 2014).
Submissions
Hobblebush welcomes ideas and submissions for the series. Manuscripts should be approximately 140 to 160 pages long when double spaced on 8.5" x 11", or about 45,000–50,000 words. Authors must be from New Hampshire or have a very strong New Hampshire connection. The reading period is year-round and response time is typically within three months. Simultaneous submissions OK with prompt notice of acceptance elsewhere. We do not accept genre fiction. Please query first by emailing info@hobblebush.com.
